Since becoming a Project Manager in the early 2000s, I have been fortunate enough in my career to be involved in many different facets of design/build, estimating, and construction. I have managed many different types of projects, including city infrastructure replacement (water, storm, and sewer), stream restoration, site concrete, multi-story concrete buildings, and asphalt paving projects.
When I moved to Hood River I took on the role of Project Manager for the City’s Public Works Department, as well as a brief period of being the Public Works Director, which gave me valuable experience in working with public funding, capital planning, and budgeting to get projects moving from concept and design to construction. In addition to construction projects, I managed private development engineering reviews and the City’s operation team for the wastewater treatment plant.
When I am not working I enjoy spending time and taking trips with my family and mountain biking, skiing, and enjoying some of the great Hood River breweries.
What are your top three travel destinations?
I would say Costa Rica, Hawaii, and the Outer Banks in NC.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Moving from Maryland to Oregon and raising our two sons out here to give them a better experience of growing up and appreciating the outdoors.
What was your first job?
At 15, I started as a dishwasher for a restaurant in Willow Street, PA. I eventually worked my way up to be a short order cook which kicked off my love for cooking. There was a crazy cast of folks in that kitchen, we had so much fun.
What’s the best live music show you’ve seen?
I’ve been to so many great concerts, I guess it’s a tie between David Bowie/ Nine Inch Nails and R.E.M/ Radiohead.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
To not be so down on yourself and try to enjoy things around you more.
