2020 Carson Water Distribution Improvements

Grayling Engineers provided plans, specifications, and estimates and managed construction for this water main replacement project for the Carson drinking water system. An existing section of 6-inch diameter steel pipe located within the Wind River Highway and an existing section of 4-inch diameter steel pipe located within Barnes Road reached the end of their useful life and needed to be replaced.
New main sizes are 12- and 8-inch diameter C900 PVC with fully restrained joints. Work also included designing connections to the existing distribution network, designing new service connections to approximately 18 existing water services, determining surface restoration requirements, developing an erosion control plan, assessing corrosion risks, and assessing traffic control requirements. The project included installation of water main under Carson Creek using Horizontal Directional Drilling.
